    Graphics Specifications

    For those clients interested in developing their own artwork we have provided the following specifications and above templates.


    Acceptable file formats:

    • Adobe Illustrator (preferred) (outline all fonts)
    • Adobe Photoshop (300-600 dpi)
    • TIFF (300-600 dpi)
    • JPEG (not recommended for On-Disc print) (300-600 dpi)
    • PDF (w/ all fonts outlined)
    • InDesign CS2 (PC only)

            File settings and Details

      1. All files in CMYK color mode.
      2. Standard dimensions plus minimum of 1/8 inch printable bleed. (See
        dimensions and templates)
      3. 300 dpi minimum - 600 maximum.
      4. Outline, embed, or otherwise include fonts in your artwork.
      5. Include links not embedded in your artwork
      6. Photoshop users: Please submit both flattened and layered .psd files if possible.
      7. Quark users: Please export your graphics to PDF or EPS. Then open the resultant file in Illustrator,
        select all, and choose 'Create Outlines' from the type menu.

Tips:
Scan all images in at minimum of 300 dpi.
Check proofs carefully.
Use vector art whenever possible (Illustrator, InDesign). Particularly CD disc art for monochrome or silkscreen printing.
Use minimum of 7 pt, for CD text.


Placing An Order

Following the helpful guidelines below will help your order be processed quickly. With our FREE proofing, your project will look exactly as you intended. Three important things to keep in mind:

1. Make sure your art is set up according to our specifications.

2. Carefully listen all the way through your production master.

3. Have the necessary forms below filled out and signed:

Resale and Tax-Exemption Forms

Organizations that are reselling merchandise purchased from A\S and charging their clients Texas State sales tax are required to fill out a resale form. We do require a Texas Sales or Use Tax permit number.

Some organizations such as recognized non-profit organizations and some city and state agencies are exempt from sales tax.

Copyright Indemnity

A\S values the rights of all artists and in order to protect the intellectual property of artists we require all non-original material (songs, graphics, clips) to be licensed. If you need help licensing materials you can visit the following websites:

Submitting Graphic Files

Email Instructions: You may submit Zipped (www.winzip.com) or Stuffed (www.aladdinsys.com) files up to 10MB to projectmanagement@affordablesound.com. Don't forget to include the Project Name, Contact name and information.

FTP instructions:
1. Make your art files easily identifiable by naming them with your name, name of your band, or company name. No spaces are allowed in filenames that are going to be sent via FTP.
2. Open a new browser window and enter ftp.affordableftp.com.
3. Right click on the page and choose 'login as'. The username is as2000. The password is ftp2000.

4. Right-click and create a new folder. Please name the folder in an easily identifiable fashion. Open the new folder, and drag and drop your files into the browser window to transfer to our site.
5. Once upload is complete, please notify us via email at projectmanagement@affordablesound.com and include the file names that were uploaded along with your name and contact information.
NOTE: Mac users will have use a ftp client, such as Fetch, to upload files to us.

 


DVD/Video/Multimedia Specs:

DVD Duplication - DVD-R - Please submit a DVD-R master. Or have us professionally author one for you! We can also accept DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW with an additional $25 setup to transfer to DVD-R.

DVD Replication: Please submit a DLT master, or have our video engineers create one for you.

Video- We can accept virtually any data format and the following tape formats: VHS, MiniDV, Digital 8. Beta SP coming soon!

Multimedia - We can create Flash presentations and menus, CD-ROM autoruns, custom graphics, and more! Contact us for details.


Art Proofs

Unlike many of our competitors A\S offers free proofs printed on the same stock and media as your final product.

For graphic arts and CD duplication orders please indicate your choice of proof method when you place your order:
1. Email proof (available for both CD-R duplication and CD replication)
2. Printed proof of CD-R projects, available free for pick-up or shipping (additional cost).

Proof Turn-Around Policy
In an effort to insure our that our products meet or exceed our customer's expectations, Affordable Sound has the following proofing policy in place to eliminate errors made on the manufacturing end.

- Proofing of your art is required prior to the start of your order.

- Free email proofs for all orders or free printed proofs on CD-R orders. All orders dropped off by noon will have a proof available over email, or in printed format by 9:00 am the next business day. All printed proofs output on the same equipment used to produce your order. If you elect printed proofs over email, we will be happy to ship you printed proofs for the cost of shipping. Files loaded to the FTP site are not considered "received" until a notification email has been received.

- Proofing is not required under the following circumstances:
Customer provides a printed version of their artwork with the order and Affordable Sound is not making any additional changes to your artwork.


Preparing Your Sound or Data Master

Masters and Audio Proofs

If your master was not created at A\S Studios you may submit it to us as a Redbook Standard CD-R. If you do not have a Redbook Standard CD-R our audio engineers will take your Audio CD's or .wav files on CDR, 33 & 45 RPM Phonograph records, cassette tapes, 44.1 & 48 Khz DAT tapes or MiniDisc and convert it to a high quality CD master. If you have another format contact us, we'll work to accommodate your project. If you are burning your own master CD-R, you must burn it Disc-At-Once, not Track-At-Once.

- Audio master proofs are available with most projects within 2 business days. Complex projects may run longer.


Turnaround Policy

We offer free 24 hour policy on 100 or less quantity CD-R orders after approval of your artwork. If you are placing a reorder, proofing will not be necessary except in the case that we make a change to your artwork or master cd. Standard turn-around times are as follows:

100 - 1 business day
200 - 2 business days
300 - 3 business days
400 - 4 business days
500 - 5 business days

If our "quickest in the industry" standard turnaround times do not meet the needs of your project, please contact us about expediting your order.

For CD replication orders, our standard turnaround time is 12 business days from the approval of your artwork. Please contact us about expedition options.


Payment Policy

We accept cash, checks, money orders, Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express credit cards. For all first time customers and all replication orders, we require a 75% down payment. The rest of the balance will be due upon completion of the job when the final quantity is determined. To establish credit or open an account with Affordable Sound please email Sales Manager, sales@affordablesound.com.


Over Run / Under Run Policy

In order to complete your order on schedule, we will print more product than you ordered, to insure we will have adequate quantity after quality control is complete. Therefore all duplication and replication are subject to 5% over or under run. Your final payment will be for the exact amount completed, on a cost-per-disc basis.
