If you're
asking the question: "Do I Need Mastering?"
The answer, now more than ever, is definitely! With the digital
revolution, there are more options than ever before for your
songs. If you're recording yourself at home, we especially
advise to have another set of ears on your project prior to
manufacturing. Mastering will allow your mixes to translate
well on a variety of sound systems, enhancing and balancing
your project to sound more professional, bigger and better
than before. It will also improve the sound of lower resolution
and compressed digital files, increasing your downloads (and
income!) from iTunes & other digital distribution services.
We can export your mixes to mp3 or just about any format you
need. Just let us know prior to mastering how you need the
tracks.
Along with the audio portion, EQ, compression, limiting &
sonic maximizing, you know, making it as powerful as possible
& improving the overall quality of the mix, we now offer digital
encoding options as well. These tools can increase your sales
& provide you with more exposure to potential fans all over
the world, what are they?
CDDB - This
code provides a wealth of information about your CD: album
title, artist name, year released, genre and credits. This
is the service that allows iTunes & other software to recognize
the CD's you play in your computer.
ISRC - This
code is used to track the usage of the sound recording. It
helps trace the owner of the recording who is owed royalties
when a sound recording is used by outlets including internet
& satellite radio. ISRC is also used to track sales through
digital distribution i.e. iTunes and MSN music. Applying for
your ISRC code is easy, free and available through the RIAA.
Check out this page: http://www.riaa.com/issues/audio/isrc_faq.asp
for more details. Please allow up 5 business days prior to
mastering for receipt of your ISRC code
CD-TEXT - This
type of encoding is read by a few models of car stereos and
DVD players, but not computers or software. Album and artist
names, as well as the track names can be embedded in the data
layer of the CD master. CD-Text will not work with short-run
duplicated CDr's, but will be included in replicated CD's.
All of these options are standard with our full-length and hourly mastering & translate through the replication or duplication process. We can also do a check-up of your pre-master to make sure that it's ready to create the best quality glass master & stamper & add all the appropriate digital data encoding for only $100.
Note: When ordering any of these encoding options, please be CERTAIN of the artist & track names prior to mastering. Once a master has been encoded with this information a new master will need to be made if any changes are needed.
